In 2020, the Active Kids Rebate program is again open and available to all parents in NSW.

 

Under this program the NSW government will give you a voucher of $100 per child for 2020, which you can apply toward an active program from an approved provider, to get your kids outside and active.

Scouts Australia NSW is an approved provider - so you can put the $100 towards their membership fees at Scouts in 2020. 

​

Once you have elected to apply the voucher to scouts, you will not be able to change your mind later, it cannot be undone, sent back to you, or redeemed for cash.

​

We've highlighted the word membership above, because membership is only part of what you pay for each term. Membership is a portion of the money you pay to 1st Avoca Beach Scout Group which we collect and forward directly to Scouts Australia NSW. It is only that Membership fee that the voucher can be used for. The balance is what we at 1st Avoca use to keep the lights on at the hall, pay for insurance, equipment, trailer registrations, office supplies, hall maintenance, badges, website, water, etc. We still need that portion to keep the doors open, and the rebate does not apply to that.

Getting your voucher and applying it to scouts is fairly easy.

Essentially it is a two-step process for each child.

​

Step 1. Get the voucher from Service NSW
Step 2. Redeem the voucher over at nsw.scouts.com.au/activekids

​

Once you have redeemed the voucher, it will be processed by our head office. Ultimately, after some time, possibly a week or so, our group treasurer will be notified of your claimed voucher. For existing members, your $100 will be credited as follows:

​

     Term 1, $42

     Term 2, $50

     Term 3, $  8

​

​

     Total: $100

​

For new members it will be slightly different.

​

So....just to be clear, once you redeem the voucher, you will still owe something to 1st Avoca Beach, but your Terms 2, 3 and 4 invoices will be reduced accordingly. The voucher can only be applied toward the actual membership fee.
